| EDUCATIONAL MINISTRIES Pre-Baptismal Program: Classes are held once a month (except during Lent) to prepare parents and godparents for the responsibility of raising a child in a Catholic environment. The classes are open to those parents and godparents whose child will be baptized at St. Justin Martyr, as well as other Catholic churches. The classes are coordinated by the deacon who trains volunteers to assist during the classes and during the baptisms. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA):
Adults interested in becoming Catholic or receiving Confirmation and/or Eucharist may join
the RCIA program. This is a one year process designed for adults who have never been
baptized or baptized in another faith, and baptized Catholics who have never made their
First Communion or Confirmation. RCIA also provides an opportunity for Catholic
adults to become active in learning more about their faith by serving as a sponsor for
those coming into the Church, and to become involved in the spiritual, and liturgical
education of those interested. St. Justin Martyr School:
St.
Justin Martyr School serves the Anaheim community by educating students in grades
Kindergarten through eight in a
Catholic atmosphere. A St. Justin education nurtures a faith-filled relationship
with God and promotes the application of religious knowledge to everyday life. It is
fully certified by the Western Catholic Education Association and accredited by the
Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The enhanced curriculum follows the
regulations set by the diocese and state. For more information on the school, call
714-772-4902. St. Justin Martyr School Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO): The PTO assists the pastor, Principal and faculty in the day to day operations of the school as far as parental involvement is concerned. The PTO promotes communication, good will, and cooperation between parents, faculty, administration, and the parish. It helps all St. Justin School parents with the education of their children by providing opportunities for volunteerism and fund-raising which contribute to the financial support of the school and the enrichment of its programs. All of the St. Justin Martyr School parents are members of the PTO. They work together to organize many fund-raisers and fun events throughout the year, including the Parish Festival, scrip, E-scrip, vehicle raffle, gift wrap sale, casino/auction night, a pancake breakfast, and Lenten fish dinners. They also coordinates fund-raisers through Albertson's, Kmart, Target, Buena Park Mall, Tyson Project A+, Box Tops for Education, and Campbell's. The PTO promotes good will, morals, and ethics by helping others in the community, i.e. Anaheim Therapeutic Center, the American Heart Association, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Holy Childhood Association, and various parish functions. For information call 714-772-4902. School of Religious Education: The School of Religious Education (SRE) provides education in our Catholic faith to students attending public school in grades 1-8 and Confirmation preparation for high school students. The classes are staffed by volunteers and conducted by certified catechists under diocesan directives. Catechesis for Baptism, Penance, Eucharist, and Confirmation is an integral part of the program. Classes are held after school, in the evening, and on Saturdays. Volunteers also help with office work, classroom aides, and hospitality. Volunteers donate their time and talents to help develop the St. Justin Parish community and to teach and model our Catholic faith for the students and their families. For information, call 714-774-2595. Mision del Sagrado Corazon School of Religious Education: Religious education classes are given in Spanish to those children who are interested in receiving their First Communion and Confirmation.
