Deacon José Ferreras
Coordinator of Adult Faith Formation
I am Deacon Jose Ferreras. I am the Director for both the English and Spanish Rite of Christian Initiaton of Adults (RCIA) programs, as well as Adult Confirmations. I am also the Director of the School of Religious Education for the Spanish speaking families of Saint Justin Martyr Church and Sacred Heart Mission.
I was born in 1957 in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. My parents and my younger sister and brother lived in a town named Mayari. When I was 12 we immigrated to Madrid, Spain. In 1973 I came to the USA as a student, and a week later my family and I were reunited. I graduated from Valencia High School (Placentia, CA) in 1976 and joined the U.S. Army.
I met my wife, Elita, in 1986 and we were married the next year.  Elita and I have 5 daughters, wonderful son-in-laws, and 6 loving grandkids.
I was ordained a Permanent Deacon on May 16th, 2009 by Bishop Tod Brown. My personal experience with God is one that I can describe as “just He and I.” Besides my recited prayers, I tend to sit and just have a talk with Him [God] as I would with a good old friend. I want to be a Deacon that is aware of the responsibilities that I have as a husband, father, and a grandfather so that I know these responsibilities well enough to not just ask of others or to preach on the subject, but to be a light to those seeking for the meaning of “husband,” "grandpa," "friend," or "Deacon."

Deacon Raymond Duthoy
Deacon Ray retired in May 2014 after 35 years of service to St. Justin Martyr Parish.

I was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 1979. Since then I have been ministering to the St. Justin parishioners by conducting interviews for parents wishing to have their child baptized, training school children to read for daily Mass, raising money for our St. Vincent DePaul Society, working on annulments, and preparing couples for marriage.  I preside at weddings, baptisms, Communion services, and vigils, rosaries, and graveside services for the deceased.  I bring Communion to the sick, and assist at Sunday and weekday Masses as well as at funerals.
